Absolutely brilliant. Am completely in your shoes (just lost my father in March of this year) and you hit the nail on the head. This is something you simply cannot prepare yourself for - the overwhelm of everything that encompasses caring for your loved one, then all the upheaval that ensues after they have passed. Your entire world changes. your level of exhaustion, lack of clarity, the anxiety and inability to process the world afterwards. The financial and medical burden stays with you and plays havoc on your mental state keeping you in fight and flight mode. Your essay is spot on - my heart goes out to you for the loss you have suffered and all you have (and will continue to) endured. Slowly we must put one foot in front of the other - know that your mother will continue to be with you in spirit and leave your heart and mind open to receive her messages. Look around - she is there. And the love will always, always be with you. Be patient with yourself and allow compassion to be present to yourself. You will persevere and learn to grow again. ❤️‍🩹
