Snake Medicine for Full Moon in Scorpio
Shedding your skin as key to stepping into your fullest potential.
As I return back to my art practice, I want to share a bit of my process and what I’ve been creating - real deal Maquette style alá fast and dirty studio visit. So come on in, sit on my paint splattered linen cushion, and let me tell you what I’ve been working on.
Last week I served as the Artist in Residence for Kripalu Yoga and Wellness Center’s annual Amplify summit. Kripalu gathered together many facilitators, teachers, and wisdom keepers, in community to hold classes, lectures, and conversations to discuss and practice the many ways of: How We Heal.
I sat in on several of these sessions with the intention of creating a talisman to distill, anchor, support, and ignite the weeks activation.
This audio supports the Custom Meditation Painting from the main contemplation that emerged for me throughout the week:
The medicine of Snake.
For seekers, sensitive hearts, works in progress, those experiencing times of deep change and transition. Those feeling the discomfort of no longer being who they were, but not yet who they will become. Those ready to step fully into the next chapter.
As snaked kept swirling around me I looked into exactly why they shed their skin1 and these three answers prompted questions that feel supportive to this current lunation (and really any time of transition):
Snake sheds skin to accommodate growth, because as they grow their skin does not. Because it’s old and worn out. They shed to repair damage, and eliminate parasites. - What am I ready to grow into, repair, release? What am I no longer willing to give my energy to?
Snake sheds often before reproduction and after giving birth. - What am I ready to give birth to? Who am I becoming?
Snake starts the shedding process by rubbing up against something hard (like a rock or tree). - How is what appears to be a challenge actually helping me?
Below you’ll find the painting, inspired by shed snake skin. Each dash represents the mantra and title of the painting repeated “My Release Is My Becoming.”
For the first time ever, in partnership with Kripalu, I will be releasing 50 limited edition hand embellished prints. Each print, cut to fit a 9x12in frame (including border), will be meditated upon with 300 original painted dashes. To support you with deepening into, and actualizing this intention. For your home, sacred space, or altar. As both art object, and energetic tool.2
You can purchase your print on the pre-sale page here before it’s official launch this week.
Some of what I’m shedding: Shoulds/Shouldn’ts. Obligation. Mistaking Servitude for Service. Perfectionism. Senseless doubt. Seeking external safety. But more on all that next time.
Your Fellow Wanderer,
Allison
