Thank you Louise! there were two of those small baths to wash the sand off your feet before you stepped up into the main space. It was practical, and yet with the Luke warm water and beauty of the flowers it felt like readying yourself to enter sacred temple space - and it absolutely was. Wish I had that in the hallway of my apartment :)
